Nearly 40,000 people plan to spend the weekend in Gulf Shores, listening to big name artists perform during the 2018 Hangout Music Festival. Crews are working around the clock to prepare for the three day event. Hangout regulars will notice a few changes this year.

Hangout Music Festival Director, Sean O'Connell, said, "We have a new stage called the Sunset Stage where we're curating Reggae bands all weekend long. I'm personally really excited about that. We've added a roller rink. So we have a roller disco. You don't need to bring your roller skates."

Other additions include a full salon, a clear-bag policy and more water stations throughout the completely resigned festival layout.

"That's the number one issue for our fans. It's hot out here. You're going stage to stage seeing all your favorite bands. So make sure you're hydrated," O'Connell said.

The Hangout Festival app helps guide festival goers through the new layout, and lists all of the amenities available inside gates.

Outside, city officials are working hard to keep traffic flowing and pedestrians safe.

Gulf Shores Public Information Officer, Grant Brown, said, "We've already got roadblocks in place that are detouring the main area here near the Hangout. We've changed to some one-way only traffic to make the detours flow. So if you're not coming into the sites you can get on Highway 59 and get over to Orange Beach easier."

This year's hangout fest lineup features big name artists like The Chainsmokers and Kendrick Lamar.
