Changes could be ahead for the company that runs bus service in Mobile.

The Stimpson administration has chosen a new management company to run the Wave Transit System.

It wants to sign a contract with First Transit, Incorporated, for more than $396,000.

That company currently manages systems in Montgomery, The University of Alabama, and Auburn University.

The proposal goes before the city council transportation committee next week.

City Council Vice President Levon Manzie said, "Look forward to the committee meeting next week where we can ask the hard and tough questions. We want to make certain that we're getting the most service at the most times for the most efficient use of our tax dollars."

Mayor Sandy Stimpson said he expects the new management company to increase ridership and cut costs.
