Broken equipment at a local park is infuriating a Mobile City Councilman. He says enough is enough.
Councilman, Fred Richardson, wants cameras installed at Sage Park because at least three soccer goals are turned upside down and broken in places. Richardson said the city has spent upwards of a million dollars on that park and to see broken equipment after soccer games is disturbing. He plans to ask the city council to install cameras around the park to identify who is responsible and hold them accountable.
"Kids from all ethnicity's are out here playing and having fun. That's the way it ought to be. We can't come back and let them destroy this equipment. We can't afford it really we cannot afford to do it," Richardson said.
He is willing to use contingency funds for cameras. He is also welcoming any other ideas to stop the vandalism. Some good news coming from the park though, Richardson said the basketball court is getting lighting within the week. soon, anyone can play after dark.
