Sixty-six students in Mobile County will spend the summer gaining real-world job experience.
The program is sponsored by the Mobile County Commission, along with PNC Bank, the University of South Alabama, and Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training and Employment.
The students will get 35 hours of job skills training and then spend four weeks on the job. Many of them will be using the money to help pay for college tuition and living expenses while they are in school.
"Mobile County businesses have come forward to give these young people real and meaningful work," said Mobile County Commissioner President Merceria Ludgood. "These students will gain real workplace experience in a variety of fields, including aerospace, engineering, accounting, health services, education, and sociology. We thank our partners for their support in providing these opportunities for our youth."
This is the sixth year the county has offered the program to local students.
